Our 2023 Décor Ideas Featuring the Pantone Colour of The Year.

January 2023 In Entertaining

Every year, the world eagerly awaits the announcement of the Pantone Colour of the Year. Designers across the globe take inspiration from this release, as we see the colour influence trends and themes throughout fashion and interiors.

The 2023 Pantone Colour of the Year is Viva Magenta, a loud, eye catching pink. Pantone describes the colour as “an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement.” But don’t be intimidated. Even the boldest of colours can be incorporated into your interiors.

Not sure how to incorporate Viva Magenta into your home? Read on for some simple design ideas from our team of interior experts.

Take inspiration from Dennis Family Homes and use our styling themes of Designer or Base & Brass to guide you. These two striking palettes provide a suite of complementary colours, perfectly suited to incorporate Viva Magenta as an accent colour in furnishing and décor pieces.

Our Designer theme provides a basis of rich colour, dark wood tones and gold elements that works perfectly with Viva Magenta when contrasted against these moody grey tones and masculine design.

To see this theme in action, head over to our Patterson 363 display at Mickleham. Throughout the display, we’ve paired these rich shades with luxurious fabrics of velvet and satin. Choose smaller cushions and throws to marry these shades and fabrics for warmth and comfort, without oversaturating the space.

In contrast, our Base & Brass theme celebrates bold geometric shapes and patterns alongside warm walnut timbers and rich charcoal accents to create an aura of artistic luxury. We love the contemporary lines of this interior style, finished perfectly with heavy layers of luxurious material and creative splashes of colour.

Shamelessly bold and ultra-contemporary, this timeless theme makes the perfect backdrop to a vibrant pop of Viva Magenta. Drape or include the shade by layering across statement furniture pieces to draw the eye without overwhelming the room.

The Balmoral 443 on display in Cranbourne, showcases the inviting tones of Base & Brass, as well as providing a visual example of how to incorporate Viva Magenta, should you have these colours in your home.

Play it safe with soft furnishings

Decorating with colour can be intimidating, so opt for smaller pieces. Like wall décor, soft furnishings are ideal for keeping up with interior design trends as they can be changed regularly. Start by swapping out some of your cushions, blankets, and throws across your home for Viva Magenta, like this gorgeous velvet cushion. Or for added extra colour perhaps use it as an accent colour on bedding to transform and revive the space.  It’s that simple!

Leave no room untouched. Shop around for magenta towels to display in your bathroom, like this gorgeous tassled bath towel from Myer. Hang them proudly on your towel rack or bathtub for a pop of colour in your wet areas.

Why should working spaces miss out? Adorn your kitchen with bright tea towels to display, or fun accent pieces such as glassware, napkins and plates.

Make a statement with pops of art

For a safe inclusion of Viva Magenta, search for magenta in art pieces and other wall-hanging accessories. Art and other wall-hanging decor are ideal, as they can always be changed according to your mood or a new trend.

Find magenta in prints from the 1950s pop art movement. Choose a large piece of art for an impact or display a few small prints around your home to extend the magenta theme.

Don’t limit your art to the walls; shop for vases and flowers to sprinkle Viva Magenta into your kitchen or bathrooms. Candles are easy to change with the trends too – this gorgeous fragranced candle from Glasshouse would suit the theme perfectly!

Go bold with big pieces

Make 2023 your year for a bold display.

Although it may not be a colour you choose to paint your walls, go big and bold with a big splash. Viva Magenta can feature in large pieces without dominating the space. Use the colour to lift an otherwise muted palette and create a focal point. Choose a large rug, statement chair, or ottoman for an eye catching design feature.

Whether it’s a subtle pop or a loud statement, Viva Magenta is sure to make an impact.

Be inspired

Don’t be afraid of a little colour. Regardless of your budget, you will find a variety of Viva Magenta offerings online and in store to inspire you and help bring your spaces to life.

Even shades as bold as Viva Magenta can be incorporated – confidently – into your home. Whether you opt for a permanent fix in large pieces or a subtle sweep with soft furnishings, use Viva Magenta to lift you into the new year.
