As we farewell Winter and enjoy more daylight hours, there is no better time to revitalise your home and spring in a new look. Although spring cleaning often steals the spotlight, there are several other ways to update your home beyond the mundane tasks of a traditional spring clean. Giving your home a refresh doesn’t require a massive renovation or brand-new furniture either. With a few easy updates you can brighten up your home for the warmer months ahead. Everyone loves a new look and here are 5 ways to spring it in.

 

Declutter with a Spring Clean

A blank canvas is a great start and a good declutter is the perfect first step. Consider what you need and want. There are many charitable organisations to donate to and you help another family in need. Once you’ve worked out what stays and what goes, it’s time to cue your favourite playlist and get going with the task list.

Here’s a simple check- list, we’ve found helpful.

Kitchen

• Clean and wipe down dishwasher
• Wipe down sink and clean drain

Infuse colour into your home

Brighten up your décor for spring. Floral patterns, a colourful throw, or statement art posters work well to instantly spring in a new look without breaking your bank account. Fresh flowers and ornaments, complimented with the in-season cushions can dramatically change the appearance of any room. Bold hues are fun to use in spring, but if they don’t suit your space or lifestyle, opt for pastels and greens that exuberate everything spring.

 

The kitchen is where it all comes together

After cleansing and organising, consider refreshing your plates with pastels or opt for whites. Simple additions like flowers in a glass vase on your benchtop, give the morning routine a new look. Complimented by small ornaments or perhaps freshly baked scones on a white stand, encapsulate everything the warmer months bring into our homes.

 

Lighter is better

From heavy bed covers to traditional winter throws, it’s time to pack them away and replace them with lighter fabrics like cotton or linen. Bring in bright colours or use pastel, whites, and greens to give your home a fresh new look.

 

Set the ambience in your home with fragrance             

After the clean, you can add your favourite candles or diffusers. Swap out winter scents for spring scents that will set and evoke a new ambience for the season. Bring in some citrus, jasmine, romantic florals, or white linen for a fresh feel. These are the perfect additions to the coffee table, side tables and even the bathroom benchtops, to compliment your décor and personality.
