Study Design Ideas

While a study used to be considered something of a 'bonus' space, the rapidly rising trend of working from home has enabled the humble study to become an absolute must-have in every family home.

Like any good room, your study should be inviting, practical, and reflect your unique style. It should be organised and decorated to suit your working style, without distracting you from the task at hand. However, this does not mean your study has to be serious and dull. No matter whether you’ve got a dedicated purpose-built home office or a simple study nook, we have plenty of fantastic study design ideas to inspire you.

The first thing to consider is the location of your study. Many of our floorplans include a separate study or study nook, so the choice has been made for you. If your chosen design does not, then don’t worry – you may just need to choose another room to convert into your study space. If you are running a home business where clients visit frequently, you may want your home office located at the front of the home for privacy reasons. However, if you’re after a quiet study space, it may be best located at the rear of the home away from the action.

There are several study design ideas that you need to consider, and the most important of these ideas is the furniture. At the very least, you will need a desk, a comfortable chair, adequate storage and of course, access to the right technology. If space is on your side, you may even be able to set up a quiet corner for downtime, complete with a comfy couch or even a coffee machine!

Next comes the fun part – decorating the space with study design ideas and little touches that personalise the space and inspire you. This could be anything from incorporating exciting paint colours, feature wallpaper, a colourful rug, artwork, or even inspirational posters – whatever works for you! Depending on the work you are doing, you might also need to display flowcharts or calendars and anything else that you need to stay on track.

Remember that your study should be inviting, productive space that inspires you. Check out our fantastic collection of study design ideas for your new home.
